The Fall of Serenes

It's an illustration for a fanwork being written by myself named "The last day of Serenes".
I always found myself drawing something sad about Reyson or some other characters I love when I feel unhappy.
I always considered Reyson a young typical Heron before Serenes Massacre, gentle, quiet and not so strong.
It's my first time try to draw with strong light and shadow. I don't think I did quite well...

It's about the end of the story. King Lorazieh and Reyson determined to die together with the Country. But when they saw the Queen and the second prince failed in escape and were shot down, Lorazieh felt heart constricted and went into a coma. Young Reyson never faced with such great fear and loneliness, he had no idea what to do and lost enough courage. He tried to wake up his father with galldr but nothing happened. Shortly before dawn, the candles were almost out, he knelt at Lorazieh's side in the dark, could see nothing but the tiny light of his galldr. He felt extinction of Herons' lives. There were a lot of human around the palace trying to climb up. No one could help him. At last he felt a strange feeling other than sad, called Hatred, suddenly he stood up and looked for any weapon, then he fell unconscious, hurted by the Chaos from inside of himself more than outside.
